The lord at work in the midst of a disobedient servant, My goodness.Even the rain and the wind and sea were obedient to God Almighty.(JONAH 1:4-6).They were obedient to God's purpose. The sudden storm had something of a divine feel to it.The sailors on this ship with a believer running from his calling, prayed to their individual gods.Remember this was a society that was polytheistic.
They believed in many gods.My studies show me that there is a difference in calling out for help than calling out in repentance.
The captain of this ship even ordered the believer to pray, and it is apparent that his prayers were not answered at this time. The believer is none other but Jonah. This could be that this is an example of how God does not answer the prayer of a disobedient believer right away.It also shows me that there must be true repentance first. "Arise and call upon thy God" the captain said to Jonah. We must all pray for deliverance while this world perishes. (Romans 13:11.) we MUST ARISE FROM OUR SLEEP as a nation and repent first, then call on God for deliverance. AMEN.
