1st Peter chapter 3....gives us many ways to treat each other as man and wife. Its awesome. Yes there will be push back on the woman's role according to the Apostle Peter. And yes being in subjection to her husband, and verse 6 it is mentioned where's Sarah obeyed Abraham. YET in American culture here in the 21st century, this spiritual Insight is rejected. In most cases both the husband and the wife misunderstand this scripture. Let's read verse 1 of chapter 3. It says likewise ye wives be in subjection to your own husbands that if any obey not the word they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives. Lots of ways to look at this. One thing I see is if a believing wife has a stubborn husband that does not obey the word of God if she is humble and submissive to her husband he could very well get saved just bye listening to the conversation of her and other wives that are believers. This is awesome. But then I skipped down two verse six no let's back that up to 5. For this manner in the old time the holy women also who trusted in God adorned themselves  being in subjection to their own husbands. You might want to back up also and read verse 2 3 4 and 5. Then in verse 6 the word obey is mentioned again. Where Sarah obeyed her husband Abraham calling him Lord. I believe every word of that. But but yet let's skip over here to the husband. The Bible tells me here that I am to dwell with my wife according to knowledge giving honor unto my wife as unto the weaker vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life that your prayers not be hindered. Now listen people this is a great way to live. In this type of life the wife is to be honored not treated like a slave. And one of the reasons for that is because she ......here's that bad word, obeys her husband. She is in subjection to him. When he speaks all things concerning the church, or the spiritual condition of his home, these things are his responsibilities. His wife is not supposed to blabber every single word he has said to her concerning spiritual manners. Yes I said manners the way we conduct ourselves in God's house the way we conduct ourselves with one another as man and wife in God's house. This kind of living makes me love my wife more and more not less. And of course it should make her respect her husband more. Not be in competition with him to get attention. She has a tremendous role in God's business by supporting her husband in his service for the Lord at church or home.
When this is not done, love in the home diminishes, and we treat each other disrespectful. I love my wife, i try so hard to honor my wife. But what to do when this is not happening in the home. Thats another lesson.But I will tell you this no matter how bad it becomes the marriage commitment should be honored at all times. Feelings come and go the commitment always stays the same. Thank almighty God for commitment.
